Jacqueline M. Skay
Jacqueline Skay is Certified by the State Bar of California as a Specialist in estate planning, trust and probate law. Her practice involves the drafting of trusts, wills, durable powers of attorney, advance health care directives, community property agreements and other related documents; administering trusts and probate of estates.
Ms. Skay earned a juris doctor degree in 1990 and an LLM in Taxation in 2002, both from the University of San Diego, School of Law. She graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and public administration from San Diego State University (1988). Admitted to practice before the courts of California, Ms. Skay has been actively involved in the following professional organizations: State Bar of California: member: Trust and Probate Section; Bar Association of Northern San Diego County, Past Chair: Probate, Estate Planning, Trust and Tax Section; Past President – Lawyers Club, North County Chapter; member, San Diego County Bar Association; and Estate Planning Council of San Diego. From 1996-2005 Ms. Skay served as Judge Pro Tempore, North County Judicial District. Ms. Skay served a three year term as a member of the State Bar of California Estate Planning Law Advisory Commission. Her service on the commission included working with eight other commission members to prepare and review the exam given by the Bar for certification of attorneys as specialists in estate planning, trust and probate law, and review of applications of attorneys for certification as specialists. For several years, Ms. Skay taught for the prestigious CEB (Continuing Education of the Bar - California) continuing education classes to other estate planning attorneys. She also frequently writes and speaks publicly on the subject of estate planning.
In February, 2019, Ms. Skay and her husband, Jay Grossman, M.D., were Escondido Rotary Club’s Honorees at its annual Coeur de Cuisine Gala. In November, 2019, for her work as Chair of the Escondido Community Foundation, Ms. Skay was honored at the North County Philanthropy Council Luncheon as one of San Diego Foundation’s Volunteers of the Year. Ms. Skay is past president of Escondido Rotary Club; has served as a member of the Advisory Committee: California Center for the Arts, Escondido; past chair of American Association of University Women, Escondido-San Marcos; and Boys and Girls Club of San Marcos.
